Google Grants

Free advertising for non-profits… unless you love Jesus.

…organizations that are either religious or political in nature are not eligible…

Come on Google! If it helps people, what does it matter what the motivation is? There are many ‘religious’ non-profits that don’t preach at the people they help, but provide spiritual counsel if asked.

If any company listens to it’s users, Google seems to be it. I’m hoping they’ll fix this oversight soon.

It’d be nice if Google didn’t restrict it, but they are certainly within their rights to do that. Religious and political organizations are often excluded from receiving “grants” from philantrhopic groups, so this is nothing new. Yeah, it stinks, but it’s not like Google invented this discrimination.
